Tyler Nase, most recently the head coach of Cornell men’s lightweight rowing, has been named head coach of the University of Pennsylvania women’s rowing program.
Cornell announced a change in leadership—and Nase’s resignation as the Henry E. Bartels ’48 Head Coach of Lightweight Rowing—before Penn announced his hiring. Nase coached at Cornell for four seasons.
The appointment marks a return to Penn for Nase, who was an assistant coach with the Quakers’ men’s lightweight program from 2017 to 2022. Penn won its first Eastern Sprints title in 50 years in 2019 and finished second at the 2021 IRA National Championships.
A 2013 Princeton graduate, Nase represented the United States in the lightweight men’s four at the 2016 Olympic Games.
“Twenty years ago, my rowing career began on the Schuylkill, and my coaching career began right here at Penn, so stepping into this role feels like coming home,” Nase said.
