For the first time in program history, the Jacksonville University Women’s Rowing team is planning an international trip this summer, culminating with the Henley Royal Regatta. The team will spend two weeks in Europe, training for a week in the Netherlands, in the hometown of one of their sophomores, Anne Geurts, then travel over to England for the prestigious regatta.

The timing is right for such a trip, with the Dolphins coming off their ninth MAAC championship and a program, and conference, best finish at the NCAA National Championship in 2023.

Director of Rowing and women’s head coach, Mike Lane, said of the opportunity, “I’m over the moon to take these guys on this trip, to represent JU on the world stage.” He didn’t mince words on his expectations for the Jacksonville program,“We’ve reached unprecedented heights recently, and (our goal is) to continue getting faster. Be a top 20 program in the country, top 15, top 10. I think from a competitive standpoint, that’s what our goal is. We want to be with that top group in the country with programs all over.”
