San Diego Crew Classic Registration Opens

Registration for the 2025 San Diego Crew Classic, the traditional first major regatta of the year, has opened. The Crew Classic, which trademarked the phrase “The rowing season starts here”, attracts youth, collegiate, and masters crews from around North America to San Diego’s Mission Bay. Last year’s regatta attracted 408 entries from 102 clubs, up 24 percent in the 15 years since 2009.

“Spots are filling up fast” for the March 28-30, 2025 event, said executive director Bobbi Smith.

The 2024 Jessop-Whittier Cup Invitational, for women’s collegiate eights, predicted the NCAA Division I national champion—Texas—as the event often does. Purdue won the 2024 Grace Rhett Memorial Cup for women’s DII/III/club eights and finished second at the American Collegiate Rowing Association club national championships.
