A pair of iconic sculling coaches was among those named to the Canadian Rowing Hall of Fame’s class of 2018 at the National Rowing Conference Jan. 26. Ridley Graduate Boat Club’s Jack Nicholson, who guided the men’s quad to worlds gold in 1985, and Fred Loek of Don Rowing Club—Kay Worthington and Silken Laumann’s doubles coach in Seoul—were inducted in the builder category. Three-time world lightweight doubles champions Colleen Miller and Wendy Weibe (1993-95); 1984 Olympic pairs silver medalists Betty Craig and Tricia Smith; and the 1956 Olympic champion men’s four received the nod in the athlete – crews category.
