University of Bridgeport announced the appointment of Jack Impronto as head coach of its men’s and women’s rowing programs. Impronto joins Bridgeport after a three-year stint as an assistant coach at Wesleyan University.

A recent graduate of USRowing’s Level 3 High-Performance Coaching Certification program, Impronto is excited about the opportunity to lead his first collegiate program.

“I’m really looking forward to discovering myself as a head coach. I loved the potential that UB offers. It certainly isn’t every day that a new collegiate rowing program is launched, especially one with tremendous support from the athletics department and the University itself.”

As one of the nation’s newest varsity rowing programs, the University of Bridgeport is committed to creating additional opportunities for current and future student-athletes. Impronto believes his experience coaching both collegiate and junior athletes has prepared him to build a successful program, both on the water and through the personal development of his athletes.

“One of my biggest takeaways from my time at Wesleyan was the recruiting skills I developed,” Impronto said. “When I first arrived at Wesleyan, the team had just finished second at the IRA National Championship, and it was clear that Coach Phil Carney had established an outstanding culture and system within the boathouse. At Bridgeport, we have the opportunity to build that foundation from the ground up and create something truly special.”

During his time at Wesleyan, the Cardinals completed an undefeated season in 2024, capturing the Division III IRA Varsity Eight National Championship and the IRA Team Points Trophy. In 2025, Impronto coached the third varsity eight to an undefeated season, culminating in a National Invitational Rowing Championship (NIRC) title.

In addition to his time at Wesleyan, Impronto has coached at Glastonbury High School and the USRowing Pathways Development Camp. He graduated from Trinity College in 2022, where he rowed for the Bantams from 2019-22.
