PHILADELPHIA – Drexel has announced the hiring of Karsen Healy as an assistant coach for the Drexel women’s rowing team.

“I’m thrilled to have Karsen on board,” said Drexel women’s rowing head coach Katie Lane. “Over the past few months, she has already had a significant impact on our program, particularly in how we’re building effective and functional movement patterns on an individual and program-wide level. Her knowledge and experience in the realm of strength and conditioning, and as a competitive student-athlete at the Division I level, has set her up for a very successful career in coaching.”

Healy was most recently a strength and conditioning coach at Urban Athlete in Philadelphia where she led small group training and personal fitness sessions. She also worked with the Conshohocken Rowing Club coaching junior and novice level rowers in summer programs.

Prior to her time in Philadelphia, she spent time as an assistant strength coach at Phillips Exeter Academy, and as a strength intern at Boston University.

“I am excited to join the Drexel athletics community,” said Healy. “I am grateful to Coaches Katie Lane and Paul Savell for this incredible opportunity. I look forward to working with the athletes and staff to further the legacy of Drexel rowing.”

The Wyndmoor, Pa. native spent four years as a member of Boston University’s women’s lightweight rowing team. Healy placed fourth in the IRA Champion in the two seat her senior year, while she also took home silver in the three seat her junior year. She was also named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll three times and once to the IRA All-Academic Team.

Healy earned her bachelor’s degree in human physiology from Boston University and a master’s in exercise and sport science from Merrimack College.
