The Golden Bears’ V8+, 2V8+, V4+ all won their duels against No. 11 Virginia before the 2V4+ defeated Virginia and No. 18 Oregon State.
The Bears’ 2V4+ had the fastest time of the day in its boat class, finishing with a time of 7:26.0, while the V4+ had the second fastest time of the day in its boat class at 7:23.8, just two seconds behind No. 1 Stanford’s V4+.
On Saturday evening, Cal’s 8+, 2V8+, V4+ and 2V4+ all won their races against No. 8 Syracuse and No. 18 Oregon State.
“Virginia Coach Sauer and his staff did an amazing job in some very difficult conditions to provide great racing opportunities for all crews,” Cal head coach Al Acosta said. “It’s been two weekends in a row for us against some very tough competition, so to go cross country and win all eight races was encouraging. Recovery over the next few days is the priority and then we’ll get back on the water and get ready to host Washington on Saturday.”
The Bears now head home to prepare for their duel against No. 7 Washington on Saturday at the Redwood Shores in Redwood City.
