    Harvard Lightweight Men Win IRA Championship in 1V and 2V

    WEST WINDSOR, N.J. –– Harvard men’s lightweights finished out the IRA weekend by making history: winning national championships in both the 1V and 2V competitions. This undefeated season by the Crimson first varsity boat caps off its tenth IRA Championship in program history and the first since 2013.

    The first boat consists of Anya Cheng (Cox), James Stevenson (Stroke), Ben LundieBrahm ErdmannZarret MillsPreston DarlingRyan McCarthyAlex Forbes, and Kyle Sutherland. IRA weekend caps off a season in which this boat completed seven perfect weekends without a loss. The Crimson dominated all-season long, winning Eastern Sprints as well as 1st Team All-Ivy. Head Coach Billy Boyce was the unanimous Ivy League Coach of the Year.

    The second varsity eight was made up of Megan Ong (Cox), Evan Macrae (Stroke), Zach Mecca, Michael FairleyHenry JonesNathan EvansDavid PicardFinn CrawfordBen Weatherwax (Bow). In exciting fashion, the 2V erupted for a dominant victory in the grand final, winning by over four seconds and an open length of water.

    Harvard’s varsity four had a valiant effort this weekend as well, finishing 5th overall in a competitive pool. The boat consisted of Jillian Medina (Cox), Matt LyonsAlberto LassoHoward HuangJoost van Asperen.
