Henley Royal Regatta, the pinnacle event of the year for many, attracted a record entry of 862 for this year’s six-day regatta of single-elimination match racing on the 2,112-meter course on England’s River Thames.
Among the 205 overseas entries, the University of Miami’s women’s crew secured a spot in the Bridge Challenge Plate after Saturday’s time trials, part of their first-ever trip to Henley.
“We qualified for the NCAAs and then we really wanted to come to Henley, so the training didn’t stop,” said the Hurrincanes’ Scarlett Pringle. “It’s an incredible course and we really wanted to prove a point and be up against teams that also deserve to be here.”
Racing runs Tuesday, June 30 through finals on Sunday, July 5
