The World Rowing Cup season begins in Seville, which returns as a host city for a World Rowing elite regatta after 22 years.

Potential match ups between the reigning Olympic and world champions in both the men’s and women’s single sculls headlined the regatta, with current Olympic champions Oliver Zeidler (GER) and Karolien Florijn (NED) and current world champions Stefanos Ntouskos (GRE) and Fiona Murtagh (IRL) entered.

In her return to elite racing, Florijn demonstrated that it happens even to the very best, flipping early in her race. Ntouskos failed to advance out of the quarterfinals, while Zeidler was the fastest.

The second day of racing included semifinals and the first medal races. Sunday’s racing features the Olympic-class finals, livestreaming on Overnght.com (use code rowingnews2026 for 50% discount).
