Dame Katharine Grainger has been named the new chair of UK Sport, the government funding body that invests National Lottery income into British Olympic and Paralympic sport. Her appointment is one more sign that the winning ways will likely continue for the well-funded British Rowing, which topped the medals table at the previous two Olympic Games. Grainger, 41, is Great Britain’s most decorated female Olympian, with four Olympic silvers to go with the gold she won in 2012 with doubles partner Anna Watkins. She retired in 2016 after winning silver in the double in Rio.
